Why Germany Buyers Choose Us
Built for German Import and SUPPR-Compliant Sourcing
Since 3 July 2021, Germany’s Einwegkunststoffverbotsverordnung has prohibited placing single-use plastic plates, cutlery, straws, stirrers and polystyrene food and beverage containers on the market. On top of this, the Verpackungsgesetz (VerpackG) requires anyone placing packaging on the German market, including foodservice packaging, to register with the LUCID register and participate in a licensed dual system. Buyers need a genuinely plastic-free, well-documented alternative that fits both frameworks.

FAQs
Your Questions, Our Answers
The Einwegkunststoffverbotsverordnung targets single-use plastic and polystyrene foodservice items — plates, cutlery, stirrers, and expanded-polystyrene cups and containers. Genuinely fibre-based bagasse tableware, with no plastic content, coating or lining, is not a single-use plastic item under this Ordinance. Buyers should still confirm current EN 13432 compostability documentation for the exact SKU being imported, since compostability claims must be backed by valid third-party certification under EU rules.
Food-contact packaging sold in Germany and across the EU must comply with Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004, which requires that materials do not transfer harmful substances to food. Suppliers should provide a Declaration of Compliance confirming the bagasse material is suitable for direct food contact under applicable EU requirements.
Businesses placing packaging on the German market, including service packaging used by restaurants, caterers and food retailers, are generally required to register in the LUCID packaging register run by the Zentrale Stelle Verpackungsregister (ZSVR) and participate in a licensed dual system such as Der Grüne Punkt or Interzero. Ecodelicious can supply product and material documentation to support this registration, but registration itself is the responsibility of the importing/marketing entity in Germany.
Mixed-SKU container loads may be available. The final combination depends on carton dimensions, loading capacity, production availability and the minimum quantity for each item.
Yes. Private-label and bulk orders can include German/English carton labelling and printed packaging on request, which is commonly expected for retail and foodservice distribution in Germany.
Transit time from Indian origin ports (Mundra or Nhava Sheva) to major German destination ports such as Hamburg is approximately 25 to 35 days by sea freight, depending on the selected route and carrier schedule.
